1st September - De Lacy-Brown to exhibit at the Caroussel du Louvre in Paris
1st-2nd November 2008
Nicholas is proud to announce that he has been invited to take part in an exclusive Fair of Contemporary Art underneath the world-famous museum of art, the Louvre, in Paris. Of the 8 paintings being sent to Paris, Nicholas has selected his Cityscapes (London, Paris, Madrid and Rome), Q5: Chez Helen, Heartbreak II: Paris in Hues of Gray and Coffee (Hot Property). This represents an exciting move into the international art scene for Nicholas, who hopes to follow the exhibition with another in New York.

The exhibition is hosted by the Reference-Marumo galleries

31st August 2008 - New paintings uploaded
Based on my horrendous accident in May, I am now pleased to be able to upload three new paintings which I have undertaken during my time in convalescence. Painting came as a great comfort to me once I was able to start again in July, and although I had to paint with my leg elevated to one side causing a number of practical difficulties, I am very pleased with the results. The new paintings are entitled as follows:
Bricks and Stones May Break My Bones (The Show Must Go On)
Oil on canvas, 120cm x 100cm
The Banoffee Blood-Press: Convalescence Behind Bars
Oil on canvas, 80cm x 100cm
Recovery on crutches: One step up, Two slides down; Snakes, Ladders and the Temptations of Apathy
Oil on canvas, 80cm x 100cm

30th May 2008 - Post-accident prognosis reveals the seriousness of Nicholas’ injuries.
Following from his accident on Balham Hill, it has been revealed by top consultants specialising in knee injuries that Nicholas has sustained major fracturing to his tibia plateau and elsewhere on the leg. Today he has undergone a major operation allowing a metal fixator to be attached to the leg thus keeping the leg in line before further operations can be attempted. It is expected that a further operation will take place in 2-3 weeks when the surface area of the leg, badly damaged by the accident, has healed sufficiently for the leg to be cut open. It is expected that Nicholas will be able to walk again, but not for several months and with the aid of intensive physio. He has also sustained significant nerve damage causing loss of feeling and ‘foot-drop’ in his right foot.

29th May 2008 - Nicholas de Lacy-Brown has been involved in a serious accident on Balham Hill, London.
A large heavy-goods vehicle emerged from a disused site on Balham Hill in Clapham South, but missed the open driveway, colliding instead with the large Victorian concrete wall causing it to collapse on the pavement running adjacent. Nicholas was walking along this pavement when the wall collapsed on top of him. Emergency services were called to the scene promptly and once rubble was removed, Nicholas was found to have sustained serious injuries to his right leg. Nicholas was transferred to St. George’s Hospital in Tooting where he awaits an operation on the leg. Miraculously, the remainder of his body survived any serious injury, with only cuts and bruises affecting his face and other bodily areas. Nicholas was conscious throughout but administered with strong pain-killers by air ambulance doctors so that his leg could be straightened thus allowing him to be transferred to hospital.

The accident scene was coincidentally captured on camera by a film crew filming for the forthcoming series of London Ambulance on ITV1.

28th May 2008 - New painting uploaded
I am pleased to upload my newest painting, Metamorphosis: Pond Life in the Afternoon (2008) Acrylic on canvas, 70cm x 90cm.

The new work deals with the changing styles which I have seen develop in my artistic career, from the more pop-arty linear styles, to a more detailed and realistic approach. This can be seen developing from the top to the bottom of the canvas. The work also deals with metamorphosis in nature, from the dragonflies, to the human baby, the likes of which also portrays the birth of my nephew on the 18th May this year.

11th May 2008 - Cork Street exhibition a success!
After a tiring but very exciting week, my first solo exhibition in London has drawn to a close with the successful sale of some of my most poignant works, as well as a large number of post cards and prints. But more importantly, the exhibition enjoyed a positive show of people and I would like to thank all of those who attended and lent me their support. I am extremely proud of the exhibition and hope it will not be my last!
